Brick Fireplaces and Outdoor Fireplaces
A brick fireplace is the perfect focus of a room. Warm, traditional, cozy, and as timeless or as modern as you want it to be we can build you the brick fireplace of your dreams and bring your home and hearth to glowing, snug life. The interiors and lifestyle magazines are full of pictures of gorgeous homely brick fireplaces so there's plenty to look at if you want to fire your imagination. Behind the looks and the glossy images, however, there are some serious masonry issues involved in ensuring that a brick fireplace not only looks great but works well. We'll be happy to explain more.
Solid Base-work A lot of modern buy and fit in fireplaces are much lighter than a solid brick fireplace with its multiple layers of cosmetic brick on the outside and firebrick where required on the inside. Which means that the first part of our work is to ensure that the concrete foundation slab is perfectly laid to take that structural weight and avoid any cracking later in the life of that beautiful fireplace of yours. Open Hearth Fireplaces These are your classic fireplace built into a masonry wall made of stone and brick. Because they require a chimney most householders looking to install a fireplace don't go for this option unless they already have a chimney in place thinking that this is the only way to have an open hearth but in fact if you want an open hearth where there isn't one it is possible to build one for you and install a flue to ensure that it can breathe properly. Talk to us today about the possibilities of creating open hearth fireplaces where currently there are none. Refurbishing Fireplaces In many cases there is a fireplace and chimney but it doesn't quite live up to the dream fireplace idea you have in mind. That's not a problem as we have an entire catalog of outdoor fireplace designs that we can build using your existing chimney or flue system. Often it's simply a case of opening up a hearth that is smaller than now want. Or of building larger brick fire surrounds to make a fireplace more imposing. Of course sometimes it is the opposite and customers are looking to shrink down a fireplace to make it a more modern design, suited to a more discrete and modern style such as a cast iron fireplace or a modern gel fire. We know all the options and we're always happy to run through them with you. Repairing Fireplaces Fireplaces take a lot of wear and tear because heating up those bricks means they continually expand and contract which can eventually lead to cracking. So we take care to inspect fireplaces to ensure that any visible damage is cosmetic and not structural and then taking the necessary steps to build them back up and replace any damaged bricks or stones. No matter what the material, us at Masonry Creations Tempe can match it so that when we're done nobody but you will know that the fireplace was ever repaired. |
